Reports were floating around Rohit Sharma's unavailability for the Champions Trophy clash against New Zealand. However, star batter KL Rahul has finally ended all the suspense around Rohit's fitness and clarified that the squad is free from any injury worries heading into their final group-stage match against New Zealand. This statement directly contradicts recent rumors suggesting that captain Rohit Sharma and fast bowler Mohammed Shami might miss the upcoming game at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The speculation arose after Rohit Sharma appeared to strain his hamstring while fielding during India's previous match against Pakistan. Additionally, Mohammed Shami was seen experiencing discomfort in his ankle during an over, leading him to briefly leave the field. However, he subsequently returned and completed his full allocation of overs. Rahul's confirmation now dispels these concerns, indicating that both players are fit for the crucial encounter.
"Fitness wise there are no concerns about anyone missing a game as far as I know," KL Rahul said on Rohit and Shami in the pre-match press conference.
India have already qualified for the Champions Trophy semifinal riding on their back-to-back wins against Bangladesh and Pakistan in their first two matches. Before playing their semifinal match on March 4, Men in Blue would want their captain to get one more match time.
