Premium Indian pacer Mohammed Shami scripted a historic record during match 2 of the ongoing edition of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 which is being played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai, on February 20 (Thursday). He completed the 200-wicket mark in ODI cricket and became the fastest Indian to reach this epic milestone. Earlier, he also gave his team a good start after dismissing Soumya Sarkar in the first over.

Shami's historic record

Mohammed Shami needed three wickets to reach the milestone, which he completed during the match. He achieved this feat in his 104th match, and he is also the joint second-fastest to reach his milestone. Shami became the 8th Indian to reach have 200 ODI scalps in front of their name.

Shami had to wait for more than 30 overs to get the third wicket of the match. India managed to get five wickets inside the first five overs and later a 154-run partnership between Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali staged the comeback of Banngladesh side. Shami once again provided his team with a crucial breakthrough after dismissing Ali in the 43rd over. He returned to the dugout after scoring crucial 68 runs but his knock came from 114 balls with a strike rate of 59.65.

At the time of writing, Towhid Hridoy is heading towards his century and has been joined by Rishad Hossain in the middle. Hridoy will be eyeing to lead his team to a fighting total against the Men in Blue side.
