Rohit Sharma's next major assignment is upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 which is set to start from February 19. Rohit Sharma will give it all to end India's 12-year-long drought of Champions Trophy and bring the trophy home this time around. Notably, last time India clinched the coveted title in 2013 which came in MS Dhoni's captaincy. India made it to the final in their previous outing in Champions Trophy in 2017 where they faced Pakistan where they lost to their arch-rivals.

However, India's ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma has assured the nation of bringing the trophy home. Rohit has expressed his strong desire to bring the Champions Trophy back to the iconic Wankhede Stadium. During a function hosted by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to commemorate the stadium's 50th anniversary on Sunday, January 19, Rohit shared his aspirations for the upcoming 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

"We will try our best. It is always a dream to represent the Indian team in any ICC trophy. We will embark on another dream. I am sure that when we will reach Dubai, 140 crore people will be behind us. We will try to do everything we can to bring the trophy back again at Wankhede," Rohit said during the event.

Meanwhile, Chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar, alongside skipper Rohit announced the 15-member India's squad for upcoming Champions Trophy. Notably, Shubman Gill was appointed as the vice-captain for the tournament.

The 2025 Champions Trophy will feature eight of the top cricketing nations: India, Australia, Pakistan, South Africa, Afghanistan, England, New Zealand, and Bangladesh. India will be hosting all its matches in Dubai, while the remaining matches will be played in both Pakistan and the UAE.

The celebrations surrounding the 50th anniversary of the Wankhede Stadium included the felicitation of several former Indian cricketers, such as Sunil Gavaskar, Sanjay Manjrekar, Karsan Ghavri, Ajinkya Rahane, and Prithvi Shaw. Additionally, on January 15th, the MCA honored eight surviving members who participated in the inaugural first-class match held at the Wankhede Stadium.
