India's rising youngster in the red-ball format, Sarfaraz Khan, who was on the team that toured Australia but did not get the opportunity to play even a single match, has told the MCA that he will not be available for selection due to a fractured rib for Mumabi’s next Ranji Trophy game against Jammu and Kashmir to be played in Mumbai on January 23.. It is unclear how severe the injury is. Many cricket pundits and former players vouched for his selection in the ODI series against England as well but now that seems unlikely.
"He has injured one of his ribs and he has informed us that he won’t be playing the next Ranji Trophy game. As he is contracted with the BCCI, the National Cricket Academy will do his medical assessment and inform us,” the MCA official told Indian Express.

Rohit turns up for practice with Ranji Trophy team
Indian captain Rohit Sharma turned up for Mumbai's Ranji Trophy team's practice session at the MCA-BKC ground on January 14. Rohit drove to the ground for the practice session. In a photo that is making rounds on social media, Rohit can be seen taking strike with Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane on the other end during open nets. There can be a few slip fielders seen in the background as Rohit looked to solve his issues against fast bowling. However, there is no update on him playing that match.
