He asserted that he would have asked her to "pack her bags and leave the country" if he had been this nation's prime minister. Rohit is fitness was criticized by Mohamed, who also stated that the Indian captain needed to "lose weight." She continued by calling the nation's "most unimpressive captain" and seasoned opener "fat" for a sportsman.

Yograj Singh slams Shama Mohamed

"I only want to say one thing, jiska kaam usee ko saaje aur kare to danda baaje (the work only suits those to whom it belongs; if done by anyone else, it is ruined). Indian cricketers, people and the land are more dear to me than my own life. If someone in the political system makes such a statement about a player who has brought pride to our nation, that person should be ashamed," Yograj, father of Yuvraj Singh, told ANI.

"They have no right to stay in our nation. Cricket is our religion; we lost against New Zealand and Australia, and a lot of things were said about Rohit and Virat. We stood up for them. I feel so sad. These things happen in Pakistan. Their former star player said, 'Who will eat so many bananas?' (Taking a jibe at Wasim Akram). Action should be taken. This should not be tolerated. If I were the prime minister, I would have said, pack your bags and leave the country," he added.

BCCI secretary lashes out at Congress spokesperson

When Congress spokesman Shama Mohamed referred to India men's team cricket captain Rohit Sharma as "fat" during the March 2 ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match against New Zealand, Devajit Saikia, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), reacted. Shama has removed all of her posts that criticized Rohit for his performances, captaincy, and level of fitness after the outcry. Saikia, the secretary of the BCCI, described these remarks as "derogatory" and careless for her own publicity.

"It is very unfortunate that a responsible person has passed this kind of comment which is very derogratory and damaging to an individual player who is in the middle of an important ICC marquee tournament. All the players in the team are performing exceedingly well and irresponsible statements like these can have some adverse impact," Saikia said in an exclusive interaction with Sports Tak.

"I hope that no responsible person from any important organisation makes this kind of comment for their personal publicity at the risk of damaging the team's performance in the tournament," he added.
