Cricket governing body International Cricket Council (ICC) hailed former India captain Virat Kohli for his game-changing knock in the Champions Trophy 2025 semifinal against Australia. Kohli who smashed a century against Pakistan during India's second league match, joined Rohit Sharma for batting after Shubman Gill's wicket in fifth over. The batting great scored 84 runs that helped India to seal their berth for the final of the mega event. 

After India's four-wicket win against Australia, ICC shared a video on their Instagram hailing Kohli for his performance against Australia. Here is the clip. 

With his knock against Australia, Kohli scored his 24th fifty-plus score to surpass cricketing god Sachin Tendulkar in the tally of most fifty-plus scores in ICC One-Day International events. This was Kohli's seventh score of 50 or more in ICC Champions Trophy history. Additionally, he has gone past the 50-run mark 17 times in ODI World Cups, the second most after Tendulkar (21).

During his knock against Australia, Kohli became the first player to score 1000 runs in knockout matches of ICC events across all three formats. India ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma is near the batting great with 808 runs. Kohli has also played more knockout matches (21) than anyone else in ICC tournament history. Mahela Jayawardene, Rohit Sharma, and Kumar Sangakkara have played 20 each.

India's opponents for the final will be decided after the result of the second semifinal, which will take place between New Zealand and South Africa. Winner of the clash will face India in the summit clash on March 9 at the same venue.
