Rohit Sharma's Team India will kick off their Champions Trophy 2025's campaign opener against Bangladesh on February 20 at the Dubai International stadium.
With anticipation building for the upcoming clash Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto has made his intentions clear before locking horns with Rohit Sharma's brigade. During the pre-match press conference, Shanto has clearly stated that Bangladesh has the potential to beat any team in the ongoing Champions Trophy, even India, provided they execute their plans well.
Najmul Hossain Shanto warns Team India ahead of Champions Trophy clash
Shanto had earlier claimed that Bangladesh will win the Champions Trophy 2025 title. Despite a lackluster showing in the warm-up matches leading up to the event, Shanto maintains a confident outlook.
“Our team is well-balanced in this format. We believe we can beat any team in this tournament. Every side has the potential to win the title, and I don’t focus too much on the opposition. If we execute our plans well, we can beat any team on any given day,” Shanto said during the pre-match press conference.
India, widely considered a stronger team, presents a big challenge for Bangladesh in their opening match. However, captain Shanto reminded everyone of Bangladesh's history of upsetting top-tier teams, citing past victories against formidable opponents like India, Pakistan, and New Zealand.
“All eight teams in the tournament are of high quality. We have good memories against India, Pakistan, and New Zealand. In recent times, we have won quite a few matches against them. We had a great series against India at home in 2022, but that is in the past now. If we play well and execute our plans tomorrow, it will be a good match,” Shanto further said.
