Indian squash player Saurav Ghosal created history after winning his first ever medal in the event at the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022, beating England's James Willstrop 3-0 in the final of the event. His bronze takes India to 15 medals in the tally, and their fifth bronze of the international multisport event.

At the age of 35, Ghosal won his maiden singles CWG medal with a commanding 11-6, 11-1, 11-4 win over Willstrop in the bronze medal match. He was outclassed by New Zealand's Paul Coll in the men's singles semifinals on Tuesday, August 2.
Ghosal took the first game quite comfortably against home favourite Willstrop and extended his domination by winning the second game by a bigger margin to place himself within striking distance of scripting history. The third game was also won without much difficulty.
