Two members of Pakistan contingent for Birmingham Commonwealth Games (CWG) have gone missing in England after the conclusion of the tournament. Two boxers Suleman Baloch and Nazeerullah Khan were last seen having breakfast at the hotel at 10 AM but they did not report to their coach for departure.

An official of Pakistan Boxing Federation confirmed the incident but did not divulge further details, as per Geo TV.

The team coach requested the hotel management to check the players’ hotel room but all they found was the luggage of missing boxers. The boxers don't have their passport and six-moth valid visa with them. The documents are currently in possession of the Pakistan boxing team.

The Pakistan Olympic Association has formed a four-member committee to investigate the case of missing boxers. The committee will be headed by president of Pakistan Handball Federation, Mohammad Shafiq. Pakistan Sports Board member Colonel Sadaf Akram, secretary of Army Sports Directorate and secretary of Pakistan Boxing Federation, Nasir Ejaz Tung are other three members of the committee.

The inquiry will begin when the boxing contingent return to Pakistan. However, this is not the only case of athletes going missing during CWG 2022. Earlier, three Sri Lankan contingent members also fled the village. Two of the three members were found later by the Birmingham police.

Earlier this year, Pakistan swimmer Faizan Akbar went missing in Hungary during World Swimming Championship. He was scheduled to compete in the 100m backstroke race but did not participate just hours after reaching Budapest. He could not be traced since June.
