India's star batter Karun Nair has grabbed eyeballs with his latest move as he has decided to join Northamptonshire for the remainder of the County Championship season.

Karun, who featured for just six Test matches for India, has been called as Australia's Sam Whiteman's replacement. The latter recently made his way back to Australia paving the path for the Jodhpur-born talent.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Nair shared, "I'm really looking forward to joining Northamptonshire and getting to play in the County Championship. You hear a lot about county cricket, and I know Prithvi [Shaw] really enjoyed his time with the team, so it's exciting to have the opportunity to be involved too. Hopefully, I can make an impact for the team while I'm there, that's the main thing for me. It's about doing as much as I can to help the team get some wins in these last three games."

Karun, whose remarkable cricket journey commenced from the streets of Jodhpur, landed in the UK this past Friday. He is slated to integrate with Northamptonshire just in time for their face-off against Warwickshire this Sunday.

Nair's cricket prowess is not a hidden gem. He is celebrated as only the second Indian after the legendary Virender Sehwag to have a triple-hundred feather in his cap. This monumental achievement was witnessed in December 2016 when Nair took the English bowlers to task, amassing an unbeaten 303 runs in Chennai.

Apart from his Test appearances, Nair has also showcased his talent in two ODIs representing India. However, recent times have seen him out of the selectors' spotlight across all cricketing formats. Regardless, his domestic cricket scoreboard narrates a different story altogether. Boasting an impressive tally, Nair has accumulated 5922 runs across 85 First-Class matches.

Northamptonshire's head coach, John Sadler, couldn't hide his excitement on securing such a formidable talent for the season's conclusion. He remarked, "It's great that we've been able to secure Karun to come over for the remainder of the season, he's really keen to get going. He's a high class batter who's scored something like 11,000 runs in his career and his first class numbers are particularly special."

As the team prepares for its upcoming clash against Warwickshire at Edgbaston on Sunday, all eyes will undoubtedly be on Karun Nair, the Indian star batter who is all set to make a mark in English county cricket.
