Sanju Samson smashes first-class century after 1740 days during India D vs India B Duleep Trophy 2024 clash

India wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson who is currently representing India D in Duleep Trophy 2024 smashed his 11th first-class century against India D on Day 2 at ACA ADCA Ground, Anantapur. With this, Samson became the fastest batter to smash a ton in the ongoing season of the Duleep Trophy. This was his's first-class century after a long wait of 740 days i.e. four years and nine months. Samson is placed third in the list of most FC hundreds for a player from Kerala, behind Sachin Baby (18) and Rohan Prem (13).
 

Samson's century after 2019

Samson who is part of Shreyas Iyer-led India D, came to bat at number-six and played an unbeaten innings of 89 runs till the end of the first day. After this, on the second day, he started brilliantly and completed his 11th century in first-class cricket career with 11 fours and three sixes in 94 balls. The last first-class cricket century was scored by Sanju Samson during the Ranji Trophy in 2019 with an innings of 116 runs against Bengal.

Samson's hundred helped India D to post 349 runs

Sanju Samson has scored 06 runs in 101 balls with 12 fours and three sixes which helped Shreyas Iyer & Co. to score 349 while batting first. Navdeep Saini was the pick of the bowlers for India B. Sanju Samson has scored 3668 runs in 63 first-class matches so far and he is looking to make his debut for India in the longest format of the game.

Sanju Samson's last outing for India

Sanju Samson last featured in the Suryakumar Yadav-led T20I team during India's tour of Sri Lanka at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele on July 30, 2024. He was part of India's T20 World Cup 2024 winning squad where he was unable to feature as the Rohit Sharma-led side featured with Rishabh Pant in the marquee event.
