Star Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is expected to be sidelined for at least three months after the 34-year-old fractured his leg during a friend's birthday party. Maxwell's freak injury will force him to miss out on the upcoming three-match ODI series against England at home while the rehabilitation process is supposed to be a lengthy one for the 'Big Show'. The swashbuckling batter, who fractured his left fibula, underwent surgery on November 13 (Sunday). It is being reported that Maxwell slipped and fell in the backyard, fracturing his leg in the process.
"Glenn is in good spirits It was an unfortunate accident and we feel for Glenn in the circumstances given he was in great touch in his last few games," Australia's selection chief George Bailey said.
“Glenn is a critical part of our white ball structure and we will continue to support him through his recovery and rehabilitation,” he added.
Right-arm pacer Sean Abbott has been named as Maxwell's replacement for the ODI series against England.
