The last man standing to score runs with the bat was Dawid Malan who scored a sensational century (134 off 128) amid a batting collapse. Malan who was going great guns kept his foot on the accelerator of runs as he hammered the Aussie bowlers while bulking up boundaries. In the sixth ball of the 46th over of Pat Cummins, all-rounder Ashton Agar who is a distinguished fielder drifted the ball off course which looked like a six.
Agar plucked the ball in mid-air with an astonishing effort that needless to say left everyone in awe with mouths agape. The incredible effort earned him plaudits from the viewers, teammates and commentators. The ball that was on course to land among spectators was a hard-length delivery on the body of Malan which he pulled in front of square.
The spinner, who was stationed at deep mid-wicket leapt in the air, and held onto the ball, quickly getting rid of it and hurled it back to Cummins which saved crucial five runs as the ball which was meant for a six had been reduced to one run. It was a matter of seconds made to look so simple by virtue of Ashton’s high-flying acrobatic stuff. The outrageous save now has the whole of social media abuzz with it.
