Jadeja paired up with Rohit to bolster India

 

At the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, the 35-year-old Ravindra Jadeja forged a crucial partnership with captain Rohit Sharma, who notched his 11th Test century.

Jadeja's innings saw him face 198 deliveries, striking 7 fours and 2 sixes as he reached yet another milestone in his illustrious career. Elevated in the batting order, the left-hander seized the opportunity to notch a century.

 

Rohit and Jadeja combined for a partnership exceeding 200 runs, placing the Ben Stokes-led team under pressure. The match began in a disastrous manner for the host nation.

 

Jadeja-Rohit rescued India after early jolts

 

Yashasvi Jaiswal (10), Shubman Gill (0), and Rajat Patidar (5) quickly fell victim to the opposition's bowlers. However, Rohit and Jadeja weathered some close calls before settling into their batting rhythm.

Rohit appeared comfortable at the crease, executing his trademark shots, while Jadeja focused on rotating the strike with singles and doubles to maintain momentum. Jadeja is nearing the 3000-run mark in his 70 Test appearances, boasting four centuries and 21 half-centuries at an average of 37.33. Additionally, he has claimed 280 wickets, including two ten-wicket hauls.
