English batting legend Michael Vaughan issued a warning to the Ben Stokes-led England ahead of the third Test against India in Rajkot. Vaughan feels that Yashasvi Jaiswal would pose a significant challenge for the visitors in the remaining three games.

India's batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal has been the linchpin of the Indian team throughout the ongoing Test series against England. Jaiswal has dazzled with the bat for India in the first first two Tests, spearheading their resurgence in the second Test following a defeat in the first game in Hyderabad.

 

Jaiswal's heroics in opening Test

 

In the opening game in Hyderabad, Yashasvi Jaiswal showcased his prowess with a dazzling knock of 80 runs. Despite his valiant efforts, India suffered a disheartening loss, trailing 1-0 in the series. However, he raised the bar even higher in the second match in Vizag.

 

Yashasvi's special in 2nd Test

 

Yashasvi Jaiswal displayed his exceptional skills in the second game, earning applause from many spectators. The star opener crafted a remarkable double century, serving as the sole warrior for his team throughout the match. Despite wickets tumbling at the other end, he stood firm and resilient for his team.

The opening batsman achieved a milestone by scoring 209 runs, becoming the third-youngest double-centurion for India in Test cricket and the first left-hander to do so since 2009. His exceptional innings propelled India to a total of approximately 400 runs, ultimately leading to a victory by over 100 runs, thus leveling the series.

 

Yashasvi Jaiswal currently the leading run-scorer in the 2024 Anthony de Mello Trophy. With a total of 321 runs accumulated across four innings, his aggressive approach at the crease has been the standout feature of his batting displays. In both innings, he has demonstrated an attacking style, turning the tables on England with his aggressive play.

 

Michael Vaughan sees Yashasvi Jaiswal as a big challenge for England

 

During a conversation on the YouTube show 'Club Prairie Fire', Australian legend Adam Gilchrist expressed delight upon hearing Yashasvi Jaiswal's name, acknowledging his batting prowess by saying, "Oh yeah, he can bat."

 

Michael Vaughan highlighted Yashasvi Jaiswal as a concern for England, praising the batsman's exceptional abilities. He remarked, "He is a problem for England. He is an issue. And he is unbelievable."

 

Former England cricketer Michael Atherton expressed admiration for Yashasvi Jaiswal's innings in Vizag, noting the batter's remarkable strokeplay. He praised the young player's capacity to influence the game with his aggressive batting reminiscent of T20 style. He elaborated:

 

“This will be the first time that English supporters have seen him really at any lengths in the middle and boy did he play some shots. Some of the sixes he hit were very very powerfully struck so that combination of the drive and desire to make himself into a great cricketer. But also that kind of ability to take the game on in the T20 style which all the players have now, I thought that was a stunning innings.”

 

Yashasvi Jaiswal is set to return to the field during the third Test match between India and England is scheduled to commence on February 15 in Rajkot.
