This monumental achievement was officially announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday (March 10), marking a significant milestone for Rohit Sharma's squad.

India are No.1 ranked team across formats

India's cricket team, already leading the charge in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings, has now distinguished itself by reigning supreme across all three formats of the game according to the ICC rankings. This ascent to the top reflects the team's consistent excellence and versatility in cricket's diverse battlegrounds.

Notably, the triumph and consequent rankings uplift for India comes irrespective of the outcome of the ongoing second Test between New Zealand and Australia in Christchurch. Despite Australia holding a lead in their series following a 172-run triumph in Wellington, India's performance has set them apart in the international rankings.

India five points ahead of second-placed Australia

In the detailed breakdown of the rankings, India boasts 122 rating points in Tests, edging out Australia by a five-point margin, with England trailing in third place, possessing 111 rating points. The ODI rankings see India leading with 121 rating points, closely followed by Australia with 118 points. Meanwhile, in the T20I format, India's dominance is highlighted by their 266 rating points, placing them ahead of England, who sit in second place with 256 points.

India's journey to the top of the Test rankings has been a showcase of resilience and strategic brilliance.
