West Indies cricket sensation Sherfane Rutherford, previously associated with Indian Premier League (IPL) teams Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), has recently been lauded for his standout performance in the 2023 edition of the Global T20 Canada cricket league. This esteemed league, marking its third year, was held from July 20 to August 6, 2023, at the TD Cricket Arena in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.

Emerging as victors of the 2023 Global T20 Canada league, the Montreal Tigers defeated the Surrey Jaguars by five wickets in a gripping final match at the TD Cricket Arena. Rutherford's consistently stellar performances were recognized with him being named the Player of the Tournament. In a distinctive gesture of appreciation, he was granted half an acre of land in the USA.

 

 

In the action-packed finale at the CAA Centre in Brampton, Ontario, Rutherford was instrumental in sealing the deal for the Montreal Tigers. His commanding knock of an unbeaten 38 off 29 deliveries, coupled with Andre Russell's fiery 20 off just 6 balls, was pivotal in leading the Tigers to their first-ever GT20 championship.

Along with carrying his team over the finish line, Rutherford bagged the accolades of Player of the Match and Moment of the Match, reinforcing his dominant presence in the tournament. The reward of land in the USA is a unique testament to his outstanding contribution to the 2023 Global T20 Canada. By driving the Montreal Tigers to their victory, Rutherford has not only achieved acclaim but also a valuable possession reflecting his exceptional talent on the cricket field.
