England team once again perished under pressure in the ongoing ODI World Cup, this time against Sri Lanka at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Bengaluru on October 26. Yet again England's batting line-up suffered a monumental collapse as Sri Lanka bowled Jos Buttler' brigade to a paltry 156 in their World Cup clash on Thursday.
But what grabbed maximum eyeballs was the way Adil Rashid got dismissed. It all happened in England's 32 over when David Willey chose not to engage with Mahesh Theekshana's leg-side delivery, Rashid, probably assuming a different outcome, was caught off-guard outside his crease.
Adil Rashid didn't realize that Kusal Mendis had noticed him out of his crease. With sharp reflexes, Sri Lanka's captain and wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis swiftly capitalised on this lapse, effectuating a direct hit. Rashid was left distraught as there was no chance for a single.

Fans started comparing Adil Rashid's with Virender Sehwag when the former India's explosive batter got dismissed in the most bizarre fashion possible in 2007 when India were hosting Sri Lanka for a short, four-match series.
The aggressive right-hander blasted seven boundaries in total and raced to the individual score of 46 off 43 deliveries. However, on the 44th ball of his innings, the veteran opening batsman was made to do a long walk back to the pavillion after a shocking dismissal
caused by Kumar Sangakkara.

Talking about the match, opting to bat first Jonny Bairstow(30) and Dawid Malan (28) gave England a good start. However, Kasun Rajitha and Angelo Mathews send them packing to leave England reeling. Further the middle order crumbled, with wickets falling in rapid succession.
Ben Stokes displayed resilience, contributing a notable 43 runs. Yet, his efforts were insufficient to stabilise the English side. Sri Lanka's bowling attack, spearheaded by Lahiru Kumara, who clinched three wickets, was relentless. Veteran Mathews and the determined Kasun Rajitha each secured two wickets, further stifling England's chances.
