India will host Australia for one-off Test, three ODIs, and three T20Is.

Australia have revealed their 16-member women's squad for the forthcoming India tour in December and January. India's women's cricket team will host Australia for a multiformat series which will feature one-off Test, three ODIs and as many T20Is, which will be be played across two venues in Mumbai.

With Meg Lanning's recent retirement, the ongoing Australian Women's captain will be announced ahead of the tour.

Meanwhile, New South Wales star left-arm pacer Lauren Cheatle earned her first international call-up for Australia in over four years for their upcoming multi-format tour of India.

The 16-player touring party also includes a recall for Heather Graham, who missed the series against the West Indies last month. However, selectors have opted to delay naming a new full-time captain following Meg Lanning's retirement.

Alyssa Healy has temporarily filled in for Lanning, but her availability for the tour's only Test match at Mumbai's iconic Wankhede Stadium remains uncertain due to a finger injury.

In the event that Healy is unable to recover in time, Australia's top eight could feature just two primary batters in openers Beth Mooney and Phoebe Litchfield, with the remaining batting positions filled by allrounders.

National Selector Shawn Flegler has indicated that the process of finding Australia's next full-time skipper is underway and an announcement is expected closer to the tour's commencement.

Cheatle's selection marks a remarkable comeback after overcoming a series of shoulder and back injuries, as well as undergoing surgery to remove a melanoma from her lower leg. She made her international debut in 2016 at the age of 17.

Australia's women's squad: Darcie Brown, Lauren Cheatle (Test only), Heather Graham, Ashleigh Gardner, Kim Garth, Grace Harris (T20s only), Alyssa Healy, Jess Jonassen, Alana King, Phoebe Litchfield, Tahlia McGrath, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, Annabel Sutherland, Georgia Wareham.
