Former Pakistan cricketer Sikander Bakht recently sparked controversy with his comments on Indian captain Rohit Sharma's technique of tossing the coin during the World Cup 2023. Bakht, known for his candid views, brought up a conspiracy theory on Geo News, suggesting that Sharma's method of coin tossing could be an intentional tactic to gain an unfair edge in matches.

According to Bakht, Sharma's practice of tossing the coin a considerable distance could potentially hinder the opposing captain from accurately seeing the outcome. This theory implies that such a technique might influence the results in India's favor, a significant advantage given the importance of the toss in cricket. The decision made at the toss, such as whether to bat or bowl first, often plays a crucial role in determining the game's direction, and any insinuation of manipulation is naturally contentious.

"Shararat kar sakta hoon? Mai ek sawal kar raha hoon agar hum dikha sake toss ke waqt. Rohit Sharma jab toss karte hai vo dur fenkte hai aur dusra captain jaa ke kabhi nahi dekhta ki vo sahi usne call kiya (Can I give you a conspiracy theory? At the time of the toss, Rohit Sharma throws the coin far from the range of any opposition captain. Thus, the opposition captain cannot go and cross-check about the call)," Bakht was quoted as saying.

This debate surfaced following India's semi-final win against New Zealand, where Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first on a pitch conducive to batting. India's subsequent robust performance and substantial victory, securing their spot in the final, added fuel to Bakht's speculative claims.

In the world of international cricket, where the smallest details can be pivotal, such allegations, regardless of their accuracy, attract considerable attention. Bakht's assertion has become a talking point among fans and analysts, bringing an unusual focus to the routine act of a coin toss in cricket.
