Meanwhile, former India captain Gautam Gambhir has given his final verdict on Men in Blue's chances of winning the World Cup 2023 title. Notably, India are looking to end their 10-year-long hoodoo of ICC title as they last won in 2013 in the Champions trophy.

Gambhir said that India have a serious chance of winning the World Cup 2023 title, even better than 2015 and 2019 editions.

“India’s chances of winning the 2023 World Cup are high, even better than in 2015 and 2019. This is because the team reflects the leader’s style—they admire and follow the leader. If Rohit Sharma had focused on batting longer, he could have scored 3-4 centuries in this World Cup,” Gambhir told Sportskeeda.

“In a major tournament like this, records don’t hold much significance. You accumulate records in bilateral matches. Your true legacy is shaped by the number of trophies you bring home. This team possesses all the elements needed to clinch the World Cup. If they fall short, it would be a significant disappointment,” Gambhir, who played 242 international matches and amassed 10324 runs riding on 20 hundreds and 63 fifties, added.

Rohit Sharma-led India will be playing their last league match of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 against Netherlands 12 in Bengaluru before launching themselves on a bigger mission of semifinal against New Zealand.
