Rohit Sharma's India continued their dominance over Pakistan in the ODI World Cup with a comprehensive seven-wicket win. While the cricket extravaganza is underway in India, the tussle between Israel and Hamas is also making headlines worldwide. The issue came to the fore during the World Cup when Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan dedicated his match-winning unbeaten 131 to the people of Palestine which landed him in trouble with the International Cricket Council (ICC). However, skipper Babar Azam refused to make a comment on it. Now, Israel's ambassador in India, Naor Gilon has taken a dig at the Pakistan team.
“We are happy that #India emerged victorious in the #INDvsPAK match at #CWC23 and that Pakistan was unable to attribute its victory to the terrorists of Hamas,” Gilon wrote in a tweet after India finished the run chase in the 31st over itself.
“We were really moved by Indian friends showing their solidarity with Israel by displaying posters during the match.”
The tweet also features photographs of an Indian fan standing in solidarity with Israel with a poster.
In-form Rizwan had shared a crucial partnership with Babar. However, he was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah for 49. Pakistan suffered a batting collapse of epic proportions as they lost eight wickets for just 36 runs from 155/2 in the 30th over.
Meanwhile, Pakistan team director Mickey Arthur criticised the Board of Control for Cricket in India for the lack of Pakistan supporters at Narendra Modi Stadium as he said in the press conference, “Look, I'd be lying if I said it didn't. It didn't seem like an ICC event to be brutally honest. It seemed like a bilateral series; it seemed like a BCCI event. I didn't hear 'Dil Dil Pakistan' coming through the microphones too often tonight.”
"So yes, that does play a role, but I'm not going to use that as an excuse because for us it was about living the moment, it was about the next ball and it was about how we were going to combat the Indian, the Indian players tonight," he added.
