Warner scored just 7 runs off 3 deliveries in the final clash and failed to make an impact with the bat. With the first ball, the southpaw was afforded a reprieve, but he wasted the chance. Still, he helped his team with his fielding and saving runs.
He criticised the people who had written off Australia at the beginning of the match and shared an emotional message that highlighted the Australian team’s tenacity and success despite the early difficulties in the tournament.
"So, did you witness that incident? Absolutely, Australia. On his X account, he posted, "0-2 and written off."
The Australian team faced criticism after losing two early World Cup matches against South Africa and India. After this, Australia showcased tenacity and batting skill and won nine straight matches to secure their sixth ODI World Cup title.
Warner will be next seen in action in the upcoming T20I series against Australia. The series is scheduled to begin on November 23. Seven players from the World Cup team were named by the selectors, including Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, and Warner.
