Pakistan seemed well-positioned, with captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan steering them to 155/2. However, a dramatic batting collapse halted their momentum, concluding their innings at 191.

Expressing his frustration, Ramiz criticised Pakistan for their inability to rise to the challenge and match the prowess of India during the eagerly-awaited contest. He voiced his anxieties about how this defeat could impact Pakistan's prospects in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

Discussing the match on The ICC Review podcast, Ramiz commented, "This should hurt Pakistan because they weren't able to compete.” Acknowledging the overpowering presence of Indian fans, he added, "I understand all of that. But Babar Azam has led this side for a good four or five years, so you've got to rise to the occasion. If you can't win, then at least compete. Pakistan weren't able to do that.”

Before this encounter, Pakistan's commendable performances against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka had garnered praise. However, this defeat extends their unfortunate streak against India, having lost all eight World Cup matches since their inaugural face-off in 1992.

Ramiz opined, "It's a reality and Pakistan have got to do something about it." He voiced concerns over Pakistan's apparent psychological block against India and said, "Credit to India for maintaining their presence in World Cup competitions against Pakistan."

Despite this setback, Pakistan's initial triumphs still place them favourably in the World Cup standings. They remain contenders for the coveted semi-final spots, given their strong position.

However, the margin for error is scant in their upcoming six matches, starting with a crucial game against Australia on 20 October.

Ramiz stressed the importance of learning from this bitter experience and refocusing on the forthcoming fixtures.
