Former India's star batter Wasim Jaffer trolled Pakistan's team director Mickey Arthur for his bizarre remark after the conclusion of India versus Pakistan's ODI World Cup clash on Saturday, October 14. The intense contest took place at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium where India rocked Pakistan by seven wickets to extend their dominance over arch-rivals. Babar Azam's Pakistan were no match to India as Rohit's lethal bowling attack reduced the opponents to just 191 runs. In reply, India overhauled the target in just 30.3 overs with seven wickets to spare.
Meanwhile, Mickey Arthur's remarks after the match sparked controversy, when he said the match seemed like a BCCI event. He remarked, "Look, I'd be lying if I said... It didn't seem like an ICC event, tonight, to be brutally honest. It seemed like a bilateral series; it seemed like a BCCI event. I didn't hear Dil Dil Pakistan coming through the microphones too often tonight."
Despite his reservations, Arthur emphasised that he would not use this as an excuse and remained focused on the game.
Wasim Jaffer, taking issue with Arthur's comments, turned to Twitter to express his criticism and posed questions regarding Pakistan's recent home series against Australia and England. He quipped, “I wondered why Pakistan lost home series vs both Aus and Eng, but thanks to Micky Arthur now I know it was because stadium DJ didn't play 'Dil Dil Pakistan' enough and majority of fans were wearing blue jerseys :)”
Pakistan's legendary pacer also found Arthur's comments bizarre. While coming down heavily on Arthur, Akram said, “I don't know what to make of this statement. Tell us what your plans were against Kuldeep Yadav, that's what we want to hear, not just random stuff. You think you can get away with this? You can't, unfortunately.”
Rohit Sharma followed his 131-run blitzkrieg against Afghanistan with another top-notch knock of 86-runs against Pakistan to ensure India win the match without breaking any sweat. This was the eighth time when India and Pakistan clashed with each other on the ODI World Cup history, and just like always Men in Blue emerged victorious to extend their 31-year of dominance.
