The Surya Kiran Acrobatic Team from the Indian Air Force impressed the crowd with a fantastic show before the World Cup final between India and Australia on November 19. The event took place at the world's largest cricket stadium, buzzing with excited fans.
Nine Hawk Mk-132 SKAT aircraft from the Indian Air Force made history by performing an aerial show before a cricket match in India for the first time. It was a fitting occasion for their debut show, taking place before World Cup final.
The pilots from the team, belonging to the 52nd Squadron of the Indian Air Force, presented a 10-minute show before the toss at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The stadium has a seating capacity of over 130,000.
Usually, the 'ambassador of the Indian Air Force,' the SKAT team, consists of 13 pilots, but only nine of them perform at a time in their Hawk advanced trainer jets.
The on-air commentators had to pause due to the overwhelming noise from the air show and the crowd cheering for the Surya Kiran team.
The Indian cricket board had planned special elements for the big final in Ahmedabad, including the air force show.
Led by Flight Commander and Deputy Team Leader Wing Commander Sidhesh Kartik, a formation of nine aircraft took off from Ahmedabad airport for the spectacular display.
Adding to the entertainment, Bollywood music director Pritam and a lineup of talented singers, including Jonita Gandhi, Nakash Aziz, Amit Mishra, Akasa Singh, and Tushar Joshi, will perform during the innings break.
To honour former World Cup-winning captains, the BCCI and the ICC decided to present them with a special blazer during the mid-innings break.
Rohit Sharma led the Indian cricket team, and they were the first to reach the semifinals after playing 45 league round games. They secured a spot in the final by winning 10 consecutive matches in this World Cup.
India, with two previous World Cup victories, are in excellent form and strongly expected to secure a third title.
Meanwhile, Australia, with five-time championship wins, secured a spot in the semifinals after India and South Africa. Despite not delivering a complete performance, they have won eight consecutive matches and remain a formidable contender in the tournament.
