Pakistan cricket team's superfan Mohammad Bashir, widely known as Bashir Chacha, has pledged to sit on a protest and create a ruckus outside the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 14 (Saturday) if he doesn't get the tickets to support his country from inside the stadium.
"I'm feeling quite stressed, and my blood pressure has risen. I booked a ticket online under the name Bashir, but when I went to collect it, I was informed there was no booking by that name. I'm truly disheartened. I appeal to everyone to assist me. I am willing to pay, but I desperately need the match ticket. I believe I am the only Pakistan fan here. If I don't receive the ticket, I will protest outside the stadium," said Bashir.
As of the recent Friday update, he is yet to secure a ticket to the much-anticipated game. However, he remains hopeful. Drawing parallels to 2011, he recalls the generosity of MS Dhoni who arranged tickets for him during the World Cup semi-final between India and Pakistan in Mohali. He mentions that both Dhoni and Rohit Sharma have come through for him regarding tickets on numerous occasions.
It would now be interesting to see whether Bashir gets the ticket for the blockbuster contest or not, and if he doesn't, then what steps he takes in disappointment.
With the myriad of officials orchestrating Saturday's marquee event, the match isn't just a game but a major responsibility. The city is enveloped in heightened security measures, visible from the team hotels to key city intersections. This security apparatus intensifies notably as one nears the colossal stadium, ensuring a safe and seamless experience for everyone.
Historically, India boasts an unblemished record against Pakistan in ODI World Cup encounters, having won all seven previous matches. Fans and analysts eagerly await to see if India will notch their eighth victory or if Pakistan will break the streak in this high-octane contest.
