Pakistan found themselves at the centre of backlash after suffering a demoralising defeat against their arch-rivals India in their ODI World Cup clash held in Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad on October 14.
Pakistan posted a lowly total of 191 runs for Rohit Sharma's men despite impressive knocks from Babar Azam (50) and Mohammad Rizwan (49). Pakistan, who were once at 155/2 suffered a massive batting collapse as they lost eight wickets for just 36 runs to hand Indian an easy target. In reply, Rohit Sharma's blistering 86-run knock and Shreyas Iyer's brilliant fifty ensured India clinch the match without toiling much to extend their 31-year-long dominance against Pakistan in the ODI World Cup history.
Since then Mohammad Rizwan has been in the centre of attention for various reasons. Sometimes for tweeting in support of Gaza, sometimes praying namaz during the course of play.
Meanwhile after India's jolt, for the first time Mohammad Rizwan has reacted and was seen talking his heart out following the big defeat against India.
Rizwan opens up
Pakistan Cricket Board released a video of Rizwan on X (previously knows as Twitter) in which Pakistan's star wicketkeeper-batter spoke at length on team's mindset after the drubbing.
“If we lose to India, it does not mean that we (Pakistan team) are at the bottom in the world in terms of skills. The whole game is of skills and awareness. Our skill is excellent and we will prove it in the upcoming ODI World Cup matches,” Rizwan said in the video.
Recently, Pakistan Cricket Board posted a tweet on October 17 (Tuesday) and said that it has filed an official complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) 'regarding inappropriate conduct targeted at the Pakistan squad during the India vs Pakistan match' and also for 'delays in visas for Pakistani journalists'.
"The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged another formal protest with the ICC over delays in visas for Pakistani journalists and the absence of a visa policy for Pakistan fans for the ongoing World Cup 2023," the tweet said.
"The PCB has also filed a complaint regarding inappropriate conduct targeted at the Pakistan squad during the India vs Pakistan match held on 14 October 2023," it added.
Meanwhile, Pakistan will lock horns with five-time champions Australia in Bangalore on October 20.
