Legendary cricketer and former India skipper MS Dhoni has always been as much in the spotlight for his on-field achievements as for his ever-evolving hairstyles. Among the plethora of styles he's sported, the long locks from his early cricketing days stand out distinctly. This signature look was famously associated with his victory at the ICC World T20 in 2007. Although Dhoni had previously mentioned that his long-haired days were behind him, fans were in for a pleasant surprise when he recently donned the look for an advertisement shoot.
Aalim Hakim, the renowned hairstylist responsible for this transformation, couldn't contain his excitement and shared glimpses of Dhoni's revamped look on social media. The images instantly garnered massive attention, causing quite a stir among the fans. In his heartfelt post, Hakim narrated the collaborative journey behind this iconic look, stating:
"Yessss!!! It's our Mahendra Singh Dhoni @mahi7781. It's an amazing opportunity for any creative person to get associated with Mahendra Singh Dhoni and I'm always grateful that I get this honour to show my craft by styling his hair... We have done some really cool different hairstyles in the past but before the last IPL when everyone was cutting their hair sharp and short... That time Mahi bhai showed me one image of his which was a fanmade image of him with long hair and I just got fascinated with that image and requested him to grow his hair long... We both promised each other that will not touch his hair and keep growing it and then we will cut & style it.
"I have been a huge fan of Mahi bhai's long hair, we decided to create an all new texture and colour for the hair...I really enjoyed creating this effortless hairstyle for Mahi bhai. So here I am sharing some images which I clicked before he went to give a shot for an ad film. Always a pleasure to work with him," Aalim detailed on Instagram.
In recent times, apart from his cricketing pursuits, Dhoni has been actively engaging in commercial endeavors. With anticipation running high, cricket enthusiasts are eager to see him back in action, especially with the Chennai Super Kings in the forthcoming Indian Premier League season.
The buzz around Dhoni's hairstyle isn't limited to fans. The hair transformation post went viral in no time, with speculations about it being a good omen for the ICC World Cup 2023 and some even dubbing it as 'Thala's comeback'. Notably, it caught the attention of Bollywood personalities like Anil Kapoor who commented, ‘He’s looking great aalim .. great hair cut and the aalim touch’.
The style was also praised by stars such as Aparshakti Khurana and Armaan Malik, who joined the chorus of appreciation for Dhoni's nostalgic hairdo.
