India and Bangladesh are facing off in their fourth match of the ongoing ODI World Cup at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Thursday, October 19, as the two-time champions hope to reclaim the top spot on the points table. The Bangladesh openers Tamim Iqbal and Tanzid Hasan have given their side the perfect start, crossing the 50-run barrier within 10 overs of the game.
During the ninth over, when Hardik Pandya came into the attack, he was hit for two boundaries. Hardik Pandya appeared to be in discomfort, prompting the physio to rush and assess him. He had struggled during his run-up and had received attention on his left leg, which had been taped.
After standing, it seemed he had been ready to continue, much to the crowd's pleasure. However, Pandya had still been limping. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma had engaged in a discussion. Unexpectedly, Hardik had decided to leave the field. Everyone had hoped it wasn't a grave injury. The crowd had erupted as Rohit had signalled for Kohli to complete the over, with the wicketkeeper positioned close to the stumps.
This moment was very disheartening for the Indian fans but a decision taken by skipper Rohit Sharma got everyone in the stadium on their feet. This was when it was clear that Kohli was being given the ball for the rest of the over. Fans immediately went delirious as The last time he bowled in an ODI before today was against Sri Lanka in Colombo in August 2017.
Videos of his bowling went viral on social media.
During Hardik Pandya's injury, the Indian players rushed to the all-rounder, who was seen holding Virat Kohli's hands in order to stand upright. He was in clear pain and did not want to put any weight on his left foot initially. The team physio ran onto the ground from the dressing and attended to Hardik. After a lengthy delay in which heavy strapping was done on Hardik's shin and ankle.
