Team India delivered a resounding statement on October 14 (Saturday) when Rohit Sharma's men disdainfully defeated arch-rivals Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad in front of over one lakh fans in attendance. India thrashed the Men in Green by seven wickets and 19.3 overs to spare. Following their latest triumph, India has surged to the pinnacle of the ODI World Cup 2023's points table, surpassing New Zealand.

Boasting six points from three encounters, India confidently occupies the top spot. While New Zealand also has an impeccable record from their three matches, India's superior Net Run Rate of 1.821 gives them an edge over the Kiwis, who hold a rate of 1.604.

It's noteworthy to mention that New Zealand has marked victories against Bangladesh, Netherlands, and England in their World Cup campaign so far.

On the other hand, Pakistan currently holds the fourth position with four points, trailing behind South Africa in the third spot. Pakistan initially showcased impressive form with consecutive victories over Netherlands and Sri Lanka but faced a setback against India in their third fixture. England and Bangladesh trail Pakistan, occupying the fifth and sixth positions, both teams securing two points each.

Talking about the match, Rohit Sharma, with a stunning knock of 86 runs off 63 balls catapulted India to a resounding seven-wicket victory over Pakistan in at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday. In pursuit of a target of 192 runs, Rohit displayed a breathtaking array of shots, smashing six boundaries and an equal number of sixes as India comfortably achieved the target with a remarkable 117 balls to spare. Shreyas Iyer, making a remarkable return to the Indian team after a lengthy injury break, also contributed with an unbeaten half-century.
