Netherlands captain Scott Edwards won the all-important toss and elected to bat against Sri Lanka in the ODI World Cup contest at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on October 21 (Saturday). The Men in Orange made no changes to their playing XI that played in the previous match against South Africa. Sri Lanka made two changes to their playing XI with Dushan Hemantha and Kasun Rajitha replacing Dunith Wellalage and Lahiru Kumara.
Sri Lanka Playing XI: Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Perera, Kusal Mendis(w/c), Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Dushan Hemantha, Chamika Karunaratne, Maheesh Theekshana, Kasun Rajitha, Dilshan Madushanka
Netherlands Playing XI: Vikramjit Singh, Max ODowd, Colin Ackermann, Bas de Leede, Sybrand Engelbrecht, Teja Nidamanuru, Scott Edwards(w/c), Logan van Beek, Roelof van der Merwe, Aryan Dutt, Paul van Meekeren
Sri Lanka's performance in the ongoing edition of the quadrennial competition has been extremely poor. The Islanders are yet to open their account in the win's column as the one-time champions have lost all of their three matches in the tournament thus far.
The Netherlands pulled off a huge upset in their previous match against South Africa and shocked the cricket fraternity. The Men in Orange are full of confidence heading into the game against a depleted Sri Lankan side. Scott Edwards' men have won one and lost two matches out of the three contests they have played in the tournament so far.
