India batter Virat Kohli exuded sheer delight during the 33rd match of the ODI World Cup 2023, where India thrashed Sri Lanka at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. The side secured a staggering 302-run victory, creating waves of celebration among fans and supporters.
The coordination among the Indian bowlers rattled the Sri Lankan batters, restricting them to a mere 55 runs after being set a target of 358 for the win. This victory marked India's seventh consecutive win in the tournament, further solidifying their reputation as a force to be reckoned with on the field.
Kohli displayed his class with the bat, contributing 88 runs and playing a pivotal role in India's final score of 357 runs. Even during fielding, his enthusiasm and encouragement for the Indian bowlers were palpable, earning him admiration from the crowd.
Virat Kohli's dance moment: Crowd's reaction and entertainment
However, a highlight that truly captivated the audience was when Kohli, caught up in the jubilant atmosphere, treated the crowd to an impromptu dance performance on the tunes of the popular Bollywood song 'My Name Is Lakhan.' The sight of the esteemed cricketer letting loose and enjoying the moment sparked an infectious energy among the spectators, who cheered wholeheartedly for their beloved icon.
Kohli's contribution was particularly crucial, considering the early loss of skipper Rohit Sharma. His partnership with Shubman Gill, which yielded an impressive 189 runs, set a solid foundation for India's batting lineup, allowing the likes of Shreyas Iyer to capitalise on the momentum and elevate the team's score to a commendable 357 runs.
Speaking during the mid-innings break about the partnership, Iyer said, "I think it was a pretty good wicket to bat, the ball was coming on and there was some nice bounce. I could settle for a while and then play my shots. It was magnificent to watch (the partnership between Gill and Kohli), and the way they took the singles, twos and the boundaries, they laid the platform for us. We were told that the odd ball was stopping and holding a bit, so it was a good partnership that they had and it helped us later on.”
