The cricket world was left spellbound by India's dominant display in the ODI World Cup 2023 clash against Sri Lanka in Mumbai on Thursday, November 2. Led by the trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Mohammed Shami, India's impeccable bowling prowess orchestrated a remarkable victory, bundled out their opponents for just 55 runs, the lowest total by a Test-playing nation in World Cup history.

Jasprit Bumrah started the onslaught with a spectacular outswinger that dismissed Pathum Nissanka in the very first delivery of Sri Lanka's chase, marking a historic moment as the first Indian to claim a wicket in the opening delivery of a World Cup match innings. Mohammed Siraj, showcasing his renewed form, swiftly seized three crucial wickets, including an impressive takedown of Sri Lanka captain Kusal Mendis, ultimately setting the tone for Sri Lanka's faltering chase.

Soon, Mohammed Shami joined the assault, securing two crucial wickets in his opening over and narrowly missing out on another hat-trick. Finishing with exceptional figures of 5 for 18, including an impressive maiden over in just five overs, Shami's contribution further solidified India's commanding performance.

Praises for India's formidable fast bowling unit echoed even from neighbouring Pakistan, as Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Amir lauded the Indian bowlers' exceptional display, sparking a spirited discussion on the performance of Pakistan's own bowling unit in the World Cup 2023.

"Time for India to start celebrating their Fast bowlers," wrote Shoaib Akhtar on x.com (formerly Twitter)

"worldclass bowling  display from Indian bowlers.this is called  world class bowling," lauded Amir.

Amir's comment follows Hasan Ali's recent acknowledgment of the decline in Pakistan pacers' bowling performance during the World Cup 2023. Hasan stated that the team did not self-proclaim as the 'best in the world,' but it was the global recognition of their bowling attack that earned them the prestigious title.

Responding to queries about Pakistan's claim of having the finest pace attack globally, Hasan clarified, "We haven't labeled ourselves as such. It's the world that recognizes us as the best."

Meanwhile, Pakistan finds themselves fighting to maintain their position in the semi-finals race, with Shaheen Afridi showing signs of a resurgence in form and Mohammad Wasim Jr consistently impressing since his inclusion in the team.
