Pakistan will hope to bounce back from their loss against India when they face off against Australia at the MA Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Friday, October 20. Against India, wicketkeeper-battr Mohammad Rizwan managed to score 49 before losing his wicket to the pace bowling of Jasprit Bumrah off a beautiful delivery.
Playing against the mighty pacers of Australia such as Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins, Rizwan hoped to up his game and asked to face Pakistan bowling coach Morne Morkel in the nets. However, Rizwan seemed to struggle against the former South African star, with the ICC sharing the video on social media for all to see.
Pakistan's lead batsman, Mohammad Rizwan, has recently become the subject of a legal complaint in India. The case was initiated by Advocate Vineet Jindal, who took issue with Rizwan performing Namaz (prayer) on the cricket field during a match against the Netherlands. This act took place during the innings break and was witnessed by the entire stadium.
It's worth noting that this isn't the first time Rizwan's public display of faith has garnered attention. Earlier this year, he was seen offering Namaz in public in the United States, which led to considerable online backlash. The recent complaint by Vineet Jindal has caught the attention of both the BCCI and PCB, prompting the matter to be escalated to the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Commenting on the game, India's vice-captain, Hardik Pandya, highlighted the cautious approach taken by Babar and Rizwan. "Babar and Rizwan were scared. They didn't take any chances, which is why we thought we were always in the game. There wasn't much in the pitch for the bowlers. They didn't try going for shots or attack us, which is why we were able to bowl dot balls. I have seen that if two players bat in the same way, if one gets out, then it opens up a lot of doors," Pandya said after the match to the official broadcaster.
