Pakistan captain Babar Azam travelled back to his Country after the team's bad outing in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 which is taking place in the USA and West Indies. The Men in Green faced a lot of hard criticism from the fans for their performance in the World Cup. They lost their first two matches in the marquee event against co-host United States and arch-rivals India. Although Pakistan won their remaining group matches against Canada and Ireland, these victories were insufficient to secure a spot in the Super 8.
This is the first time in the history of the tournament that Pakistan did not even qualify for the Group Stage. Pakistani cricketers who were the part of squad faced a lot of threats from social media. Babar, along with teammates Mohammad Amir, Azam Khan, Imad Wasim, and Shadab Khan, reportedly spent some time in London.
The Pakistan captain arrived at Lahore airport on Tuesday morning to a muted reception, with only a few fans showing support, while many appeared indifferent to his arrival.

Babar Azam in Lahore
There are speculations that the Pakistan Cricket Board will sack Babar Azam from the captaincy for his performance in the T20 World Cup 2024. The cricket board reappointed him captain just before the World Cup.
PCB is expected to hold a press conference in the coming days to explain the team's poor performance and possibly announce changes in captaincy and the white-ball squads. Pakistan will now feature in the 2-match Test series against Bangladesh from August 1. Shan Masood will likely to lead the team in the series.
Pakistan captain was recently blamed for match-fixing allegations by a journalist. The journalist alleged that Azam received expensive gifts such as an Audi E-Tron and luxury apartments in Australia and Dubai and that led to the team's poor performance in the World Cup. However Babar Azam, reportedly filed a a defamation suit of Rs. 1 billion against that journalist.
