Team India emerged victorious in the T20 World Cup 2024 final, defeating South Africa and ending their 11-year wait for an ICC trophy. Notably, this was India's second T20 World Cup title as they last lifted the trophy in the inaugural season in 2007. After spending a few days in Barbados, the Rohit Sharma-led Team India finally arrived in New Delhi on the morning of July 4. Before their meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the players had a brief stop at the ITC Maurya Hotel in Delhi. There, they were treated to a special breakfast spread. The chefs had prepared a lavish selection, including jars filled with unique treats like pistachio naan khatai and sundried tomato pinwheels, for each player's room. According to reports, the hotel also catered to the individual preferences of the team captains. Rohit Sharma, from Mumbai, enjoyed a Vada Pav, while Virat Kohli, from Delhi, savored a plate of Chole Bhature. The breakfast also featured fresh, locally-sourced fruits like mangoes and blackberries.

To add to the celebratory atmosphere, a special cake awaited the champions at the ITC Maurya Hotel. The cake mirrored the team's jersey colors, with a crowning touch – a replica of the T20 World Cup trophy sculpted entirely in chocolate.
“The cake is in the colour of the Team's jersey. Its highlight is this trophy, it may look like an actual trophy but this is made out of chocolate...This is our welcome to the winning team...We have arranged the breakfast in the special venue and we will offer them a special breakfast," ITC Maurya chef Shivneet Pahoja told news agency ANI.
Their T20 World Cup victory wasn't the only hurdle Team India had to overcome. A powerful tropical storm, Beryl, lashed Barbados after their win against South Africa, forcing airport closures and grounding flights. Stuck on the island nation, the BCCI swiftly arranged a special charter flight. Departing Barbados on June 3rd, the flight touched down in India at 6:00 AM the following day. After some well-deserved rest, the team met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence. But the celebrations weren't over! They've now embarked on a flight to Mumbai, where a victory parade awaits. Fans will get a glimpse of their champions as the team rides an open bus from Marine Drive to the iconic Wankhede Stadium. The festivities will culminate in an elaborate ceremony at the stadium itself.
