Heroes return home, special chartered plane carrying T20 World Cup champion Indian team lands in New Delhi

The special charter plane AIC24WC, which stands for AirIndia Champions24WorldCup arranged by BCCI to bring home the T20 World Cup 2024 champions Indian cricket team home has finally landed in New Delhi. It rescued the Men in Blue who were stranded in Barbados due to airport closure amid Hurricane Beryl's impact. The same flight also brought home the media personnel who were in the Caribbean covering the mega tournament.

 

Heroes return home

 

The heroes of Indian cricket that ended the 11-year-long ICC trophy drought after defeating South Africa in the Finals by 7 runs at the Kensington Oval have finally returned home with the prestigious silverware that will be added to the collection.

Team to meet PM Modi

 

Now that the team has arrived in Delhi in the morning, they will be heading towards the PMO house and meeting with the Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi. However, this is not the end of their plans as they will be taking a flight to Mumbai afterwards.

 

Victory parade in Mumbai

 

The Men in Blue will be doing a kilometer-long open bus victory parade from Marine Drive to Wankhede Stadium with the T20 World Cup trophy. This will be followed by a celebration and felicitation ceremony at the Wankhede in the evening. This is India's first ICC trophy after 11 years and the celebration with be equally grand.

Both BCCI secretary Jay Shah and the Indian captain Rohit Sharma requested the fans to join them in their victory parade from Marine Drive to Wankhede on 4th July as they celebrate their historic win in the Finals of the T20 World Cup 2024.


"Join us for the Victory Parade honouring Team India's World Cup win! Head to Marine Drive and Wankhede Stadium on July 4th from 5:00 pm onwards to celebrate with us! Save the date! #TeamIndia," BCCI secretary Jay Shah wrote on Twitter


"We want to enjoy this special moment with all of you. So let's celebrate this win with a victory parade at Marine Drive & Wankhede on July 4th from 5:00 pm onwards. It's coming home," Rohit posted on 'X'.
