And if India defeated them in their upcoming clash then side will be out of the World Cup. However there are chances that rain will play spoilsport in the upcoming India vs Australia tie, here is what will happen if the match is washed out due to rain.

If the match between India and Australia got abandoned due to rain then both teams earn one point each which will help India to qualify for the semifinal with five points and Australia will be in trouble. 
 

Afghanistan's chances of qualifying in the semifinal

 

If the match between India and Australia ends with no result, Australia will get three points in the Super 8. If Afghanistan defeats Bangladesh in their last match, they will qualify for the semifinal with four points, and Australia will be out of the tournament. If Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan then Australia will qualify for the semi-final of the marquee event.
