Check what happens if rain causes washout on Reserve Day

Both the Indian cricket team and South Africa are now just one win away from claiming the biggest title in the shortest format of the game as they collide in the Finals of the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 which will be played at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, on June 29 (Saturday). However, there are chances that rain will play spoilsport in the upcoming India vs South Africa tie both on the match and the Reserve Day, here is what will happen if the match is washed out due to bad weather even on June 30 (Sunday).

As per the Barbados weather forecast, there is a prediction of thunderstorms and heavy chances of rain on June 29, the day of the final. The precipitation chances can rise up to 60 per cent, so it will likely be playing spoilsport. A couple of games have already been abandoned due to bad weather earlier and that's why the finals have a reserve day, so the match can proceed on the next day even if rain causes a washout on the previously scheduled day. ICC has allotted 190 minutes of extra time to deal with the rain threat and allow the ground staff to get the ground ready but if it does not work out there is a reserve day available on June 30. However, the bad news is that even on June 30, which is the reserve day, the precipitation chances will go up to 50 per cent.

What happens if rain causes washout on Reserve Day?

If the match between India and South Africa got abandoned due to rain then the game will be played on the reserve day. However, if the rain is persistent on that date well, it will also have a 190 minutes of extra time to see if a 10-over-a-side match is possible or not but if that is not the case then both teams will be announced joint winners.
