Windies was the first team to reach this feat.

England also claimed this feat after winning the 2022 edition.

The inaugural season of T20 World Cup was held in the year 2007. Now the ninth edition of this tournament is going to be hosted by the West Indies and United States in June 2024. So far, six teams have achieved the honor of becoming T20 World Cup winners. But there are only two teams which have won this title twice. These teams are the West Indies and England. The Windies team won the title in 2012 and 2016 under the captaincy of Darren Sammy. England scripted this feat in 2010 and 2022. Interestingly, when both teams became champions for the second time, they defeated India in the semi-finals. Team India was the first winner of the T20 World Cup.

West Indies are the first team to win the T20 World Cup title twice. They did this feat in 2012 and 2016. Sammy is the only captain who has won this title twice. Under his leadership, the West Indies team defeated host Sri Lanka in the 2012 final. In the final, West Indies, playing first, scored 137 runs for six wickets. In response, the Sri Lankan team was all out for 101 runs. In this way, West Indies won the T20 World Cup title for the first time.
