Big setback for India, Rishabh Pant misses practice session ahead of T20 World Cup Super 8 clash against Afghanistan

Team India are currently in Barbados for the upcoming clash against Afghanistan.

India star wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant who is in lethal form in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 has missed the practice session on June 18, Tuesday. India captain Rohit Sharma along with star batter Virat Kohli and Kuldeep Yadav were seen sweating out in nets in Barbados. Pant is currently leading India's scoring charts with 96 runs in 3 matches of the marquee event. 

 

However, the reason behind Pant's absence is not known yet. The wicketkeeper batter's performance in the upcoming Super 8 clashes will be important for team India. Here is what we know about India's session.

India's performance in T20 World Cup 2024

 

Rohit Sharma-led India played three matches and won all. One match between India and Canada washed out due to consistent rain and wet outfield in Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium in Florida.

Team India will start their Super 8 campaign with a clash against fellow Asian side Afghanistan in Barbados, on June 20. The Indian cricket team is currently unbeaten in this mega tournament and is one of the favorites to reach the semi-finals. The top two teams from each group qualified for the Super 8 stage, where they were further divided into two more groups. The Men in Blue are placed in Group 1 with Australia, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. In the other group, West Indies, South Africa, England, and the United States will be going against each other. The top two teams from each group will find themselves competing in the semi-finals.
