Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav has shared an update following his surgery, an important step in his recovery process leading up to the T20 World Cup 2024. The update was shared on Wednesday, January 17.
Suryakumar encountered a major hurdle in his preparation for the T20 World Cup 2024 due to an ankle injury he suffered during a match against South Africa in Johannesburg on December 14, 2023.
This injury led to the discovery of a sports hernia, adding to his fitness challenges. Consequently, Suryakumar was sidelined from cricket until February 2024, losing valuable preparation time for the World Cup.
He underwent a surgical procedure in Munich, Germany, to treat the hernia, which also meant missing out on domestic cricket engagements, including the Ranji Trophy season. This situation could also impact his participation in the early matches of the IPL 2024 with the Mumbai Indians.
His health issues have raised concerns about his availability for the T20 World Cup. The Indian team management is focused on ensuring he has sufficient time to recover, given his critical role in the T20 squad.
The Indian cricketer, who was earlier spotted with his wife in Germany, has recently shared an update about his surgery on his Instagram account.
Suryakumar Yadav assured his followers of a swift return to the field with a message on Instagram. In his post, he confirmed that the surgery was completed successfully and expressed gratitude for the concern and good wishes he received. Suryakumar's message brought optimism, indicating that he might not be sidelined for an extended period.
"Surgery done. I want to thank everyone for their concerns and well wishes for my health, and I am happy to tell you all that I will be back very soon," said Suryakumar," Suryakumar shared in his post.
Notably, Suryakumar had finished the year 2023 as the top-ranked batter in the ICC T20I Rankings.
