Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team is set to compete against SMonank Patel's United States in match 25 of the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 which will be played at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, on June 12 (Wednesday). Both teams are coming into this match with two consecutive victories and another win here will ensure their qualification to the Super 8 stage. The clash is important for both teams but it also has the threat of bad weather and rain looming over it.
New York weather forecast
The New York weather forecast predicts slight chances of rain and it might also play spoilsport in the match proceedings. The precipitation chances will go up to 20 percent which can be bothersome for the Pakistan team and the fans. However, it can also be just passing showers and the match might proceed with a few interruptions. If rain causes a potential washout both teams will have to share a point and that will be extremely bad for Pakistan. Earlier, the Scotland vs England and Sri Lanka vs Nepal games were abandoned due to rain as well. Hopefully, this won't be the sight during Team India's game.
Group A Super 8 qualification scenario
Both India and USA are front-runners from Group A to make it into the Super 8 stage. Even if both of them win one of their remaining two games, they will qualify without being dependent on any other side. If one of them even lose both of their next games, they will still be in the race but will have to see how the other teams finish. On the other hand, Pakistan and Canada need to win their remaining games by a big margin and hope USA suffer big defeat in both of their clashes.
There is rain threat over the IND vs USA game, if it somehow causes a washout both India and USA will share a point and that will ensure their Super 8 qualification too and will eliminate Pakistan and Canda from the race.
