Pakistan veteran speedster Mohammed Amir lavished praise on Indian captain Rohit Sharma and revealed his plan to got him out early in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 clash between arch-rivals on June 9 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. Amir revealed that he will try to hit Rohit on the pads with the new ball.
Pakistan are coming after a heartbreaking loss against the United States in their opening clash of the tournament where Mohammad Amir conceded 18 runs in the super over.
“You know that Rohit is a world-class player. When he comes at his time, he doesn't leave anyone. Early on, as a bowler, there is a chance. You can hit him on pads or sticks early on. But when he faces 15-20 balls, he becomes a difficult batsman. So, my aim was to feed Rohit with new balls and try to hit him on the pads. And I was successful in that “ said Amir on star sports.
Mohammad Amir further hailed Rohit Sharma for his 140-run knock in the 2019 World Cup game against Pakistan. He said that it was one of his best innings and took the game away from them.
“Rohit's innings was one of the best innings. Because early on, the wicket wasn't good. Because the ball wasn't coming that way. It was slow. KL Rahul was struggling a lot at the start. But I think Rohit's innings changed the match. If Rohit hadn't played that way and the way we took the start from the top, Fakhar and Babar's partnership was also there” he added.
Rohit was in lethal form during India's first outing of the T20 World Cup, he scored 52 runs 37 balls before retiring hurt. India won that match by eight wickets.
