UAE's Muhammad Usman has announced retirement from international cricket, marking the end of an era for the 38-year-old middle-order batter. The announcement came on Friday, June 28, after a successful stint representing the UAE in a total of 85 international matches.

Usman, born in Lahore, donned the UAE jersey across formats, playing 38 ODIs and 47 T20Is between 2016 and 2022. His debut came in February 2016 during a T20I clash against the Netherlands. Later that year, he made his ODI debut against Scotland in Edinburgh. Before embarking on his international journey, Usman had already established himself in UAE domestic cricket. He made his first-class debut against the Netherlands in January 2016, featuring in a total of 5 first-class matches.

Usman leaves behind a strong batting record. He amassed 1008 runs in 38 ODIs, averaging 31.50 with a solitary century and five fifties. His T20I career saw him score 891 runs in 47 matches, including three half-centuries.
Highs of the Asia Cup
Muhammad Usman's international career included a standout performance in the 2016 Asia Cup. He emerged as the UAE's leading run-scorer (176 runs in 7 games) and the third-highest overall in the tournament, a testament to his batting prowess at the highest level. Usman's contributions extended beyond limited-overs cricket. He displayed his talent in the First-Class arena as well, scoring a century and accumulating a total of 217 runs in his five appearances.
His final international appearances came in February 2022, representing the UAE in ODIs against Oman and T20Is against Nepal. Bidding farewell to international cricket, Muhammad Usman described his journey as ‘incredible’. He expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported him throughout his career and hinted at his desire to remain involved in the sport even after retirement.
