India clinch second T20 World Cup 2024
The Indian cricket team put an end to their 11-year-long trophy drought after winning their second T20 World Cup title. The Men in Blue became the first undefeated team in history to win the prestigious trophy and also the first side to win all white-ball ICC trophies (T20 World Cup, ODI World Cup, Champions Trophy) twice.
Rohit Sharma elected to bat first after winning the toss and the decision turned out to be good as India managed to post 176/7 on the board with the help of an amazing half-century from star batter Virat Kohli and great cameo knocks from Axar Patel and Shivam Dube. Then during the second innings, Heinrich Klaasen also smashed a blazing fifty and almost took the game away from the Indian team. However, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya's heroics helped India come back into the match and win it by 7 runs.
