Rohit Sharma opens up on his 23 runs knock against Bangladesh.

India captain Rohit Sharma opened up on his 23 runs off 11 balls knock against Bangladesh in the Super 8 clash of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 which was played at Antigua. He reckoned that the team don't need any individual fifties or hundreds to win the game. With this win against Bangladesh, team India registered their fifth consecutive win of the ongoing marquee event and with that India became the third country to register most on the trot wins in the history of the marquee event.

Notably, Hardik Pandya was the only batter in the whole match who scored a half-century in the recently concluded clash between India and Bangladesh. After scoring a half-century, the Indian all-rounder picked a wicket and became the first Indian player to achieve a unique double in ICC T20 World Cup history. Hardik became the first-ever Indian to have 300-plus runs and 20-plus wickets in the tournament history.

“I have been talking about this for a long time now. It's about going there and putting that into work. Considering everything we played really well, adapted to the conditions. There's a little bit of wind factor here, overall we are very smart, overall we were good with bat and ball. All eight batters need to play their role, whatever it is. We saw one guy get 50 and we got 197, in T20 I don't believe we need to get fifties and hundreds, what matters is the pressure you put on the bowlers. All the batters from the word go played like that and that's how we want to play as well” said Rohit in post-match conference.

Rohit Sharma on Hardik Pandya

Rohit Sharma lavished praise on Hardik for his all-round efforts. He said that there is a lot of experience in the squad and he is capable of Hardik's capabilities. Hardik was the first one who got the breakthrough for Men in Blue.

"There is a lot of experience in the squad and we back them. [on Hardik] I mentioned in the last game as well, him batting well puts us in a good stead. We want to finish well after the top 5, 6, Hardik being Hardik we know what he is capable of. He is a very important player for us, if he can keep doing that, it will put us in good positions. Excitement and if we discuss something with the bowler and when it comes off, it's nice. Everyone when it came to our bowling adapted well and we discussed those things and they did well" Rohit concluded.

India is at the top of the Group 1 points table with two wins in two games and will play second-placed Australia on June 24.
