Legendary Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has picked Rishabh Pant over Sanju Samson as Team India's primary wicket-keeper for the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 which is set to be held in the West Indies and United States. He said having Pant in the playing eleven allows the team to have more left-handers in the line-up.
Yuvraj Singh backs Rishabh Pant
Yuvraj Singh gave his opinion on India's preferable playing 11 for the mega tournament. He said Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma should open for India. He praised Sanju and said he is in great form but having Pant brings more variety.
"I think Rohit and Jaiswal should definitely open. Virat has been batting at number three and that's his position. You get Surya at four and then you got a couple of big options. I'd like to see a couple of left-hand, right-hand combinations because it is harder to bowl at two combinations all the time," Yuvraj Singh told ICC.
"I'd probably go for Rishabh. Obviously Sanju is also in great form, but Rishabh left-hander, and I believe that Rishabh has massive potential to win games for India, which he has done in the past," he added.
