In what came as scary news for Team India and its fans in the early hours of November 08 (Tuesday), captain Rohit Sharma sustained an injury to his right arm during an optional net session in Adelaide ahead of the Men in Blue's high-voltage 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final against England. After using the magic spray, applying the ice pack and resting for a brief period, the right-handed batter returned to the nets and batted for a lengthy period as the team management and fans breathed a sigh of relief.
Reflecting on the blow to his arm during a net session, the 35-year-old Indian skipper hinted that there is nothing to worry about.
"I was hit yesterday but it seems to be fine now. There was a little bruise but it is absolutely fine now," Rohit said at the press conference ahead of the semi-final against England on November 10 (Thursday).
The Indian captain hasn't been in the best of forms in the ongoing multi-national tournament. Rohit tallies just 89 runs in five matches so far at a strike rate of 109.87 and average of 17.80. The Hitman registered a half-century against minnows Netherlands but his knock was far from convincing. India would hope for Rohit - the batter - to regain his vintage best as the Men in Blue's batting line-up will be put to a stern test against the quality English bowling attack in the semi-final.
While talking about India's semi-final opponents, Rohit said "“We need to start fresh and the past doesn’t matter. We can’t go to the game (thinking) that we have beaten this team. These guys (England) are dangerous as we can see that they can beat any team."
